0What if I am not in when my delivery arrives?
What if I am not in when my delivery arrives?
We all know the feeling. We’ve ordered something big and expensive that we can’t wait to play with, and waited in all morning, only for the delivery man to call the moment we pop out to the shops. But don’t worry – in most situations, if you are not there to receive the goods, the delivery man will leave a card with all the info you need to arrange collection or redelivery.
If you know you aren’t going to be in when your package is delivered, there are a few things you can do. If you have a neighbour or family member who can keep an eye and an ear out for the delivery man, this is fine, as they will be able to sign for the package on your behalf. If this isn’t possible, you can also leave a signed note for the delivery driver, informing them of a safe place to leave the package. This could be in a shed, in a porch or another secure spot. You can also instruct them to deliver to a neighbour, if you know someone who will be at home.
If your package is delivered when you’re out and there are no instructions left, the driver will leave a card with all the details you need to arrange redelivery or collection from the delivery company depot. If you live near a depot, collection can be the quickest way to get your goods if you missed the first delivery. Otherwise, just call the number on the card to arrange redelivery at a time when you know you’ll be home.
So if you’ve been concerned about what to do if you’re not at home when your delivery comes, then don’t worry. Either leave a signed note with instructions on where to leave the package, or, if you prefer, simply use the redelivery card to arrange delivery or collection at a time that suits you.
